Found

One remarkable true story became the foundation for one of Akiane’s most beloved paintings “Found”.  There was a taboo in one small Madagascar tribe against saving orphans.  After their parents died the two children were taken into the jungle and left there to die. A two-year-old boy took care of his six-month-old sister for more than two months. When they were discovered they were barely alive.  After Akiane invited the adoptive parents to look at the finished portrait they could not stop crying. They were astounded to see the painted waterfalls in the background, because they had never told Akiane that the orphans had been found in the only waterfall jungle in Madagascar.
