For more than a year, she searched for a model who matched that face. Then one day, a carpenter unexpectedly appeared at her family’s door. Akiane immediately recognized him as the person she had been waiting for.

But the story didn’t end there.

The original painting was taken, sold without permission, and disappeared from public view for over a decade. Hidden away and nearly lost, it became part of a story that few artworks ever carry.
