Automatically collected information and website usage

Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising

We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first-party and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine product and service popularity and online activity. Cookies and your choices

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Our website and service providers may use cookies and similar technologies to support shopping carts, accounts, security, saved preferences, website analytics, and advertising.

We use CookieYes to present cookie information and manage available consent choices. Where a cookie banner or preference control is displayed, you can use it to review available categories and change your choices about optional cookies. Essential technologies support functions such as security, shopping carts, and remembering consent preferences.

Cloudflare Turnstile and spam prevention

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect forms, including story submissions, from spam, bots, and abuse. Turnstile may run in invisible mode, performing checks in the background without displaying a verification widget.

Cloudflare processes technical signals such as your IP address, browser User-Agent, TLS fingerprint, and the sitekey and associated website origin. These signals support bot detection and blocking. Cloudflare processes them on our behalf to protect our website and also as a controller to improve Turnstile’s bot detection capabilities.

We also use submission checks and request limits to prevent abuse. These measures may process technical request information, including identifiers derived from IP addresses.

Stories, map lights, and shared submissions

Participation in our story-sharing campaign is voluntary. When you submit a story, we collect the story and information you choose to provide, which may include a display name, city and country or a ZIP code used for location lookup, language, an optional photograph, publication permission, and an optional email address for an approval notification.

Submissions are reviewed before publication. Approved stories may appear publicly on the campaign page, map, story pages, and shared links or images. Public information may include your story, chosen display name, general location, language, and photograph. Any further use of your submission is subject to the permission you provide and the submission terms.

The campaign map uses a general city-level location and rounded coordinates. A ZIP code entered for lookup is not stored with the published story. We do not request an exact street address for a story submission.

If you request an approval email, that email address is kept private and is not displayed with your story. Requesting an approval notification does not subscribe you to a newsletter.

Please avoid including confidential or sensitive information in stories or photographs. Obtain appropriate permission before submitting information or images about another person, including a child. Published material may be viewed, copied, or shared by others.

We also collect information submitted through story reports to review concerns and moderate content. To request a correction or removal of your submission, contact us at prints@akiane.com and identify the story. We cannot guarantee removal of copies independently saved or shared by third parties.

Customer reviews and review invitations

If you provide consent during checkout, Art Akiane may send you a follow-up email inviting you to review products purchased from our website. Participation is voluntary, and you are not required to submit a review.

Art Akiane uses Customer Reviews for WooCommerce, a service provided by CusRev, to send review invitations, collect customer reviews, and independently verify that certain reviews relate to genuine purchases. To provide these services, information may be transmitted to or processed by CusRev, including your name, email address, order information, products purchased, and information you voluntarily submit through a review form.

Information submitted with a review may include a star rating, written comments, a selected display name, and any photographs or videos you voluntarily upload. Reviews and associated media may be displayed publicly on akiane.com. If independently verified review collection is enabled in Live mode, a verified copy of your review may also be published on CusRev.com.

Where offered by the review form, you may choose how your name is displayed, including submitting your review anonymously. Please do not include private, confidential, sensitive, or personally identifying information in review text, photographs, or videos.

You may unsubscribe from future review invitations using the unsubscribe link in a review-request email. This will not affect order confirmations, shipping notices, account communications, customer-service messages, or other communications necessary to fulfill or support your purchase.

CusRev processes information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and Data Protection terms.

Email communications

Optional email subscriptions through Mailchimp

We use Mailchimp to manage optional email subscriptions and send email updates. If you separately opt in to email updates through our story form, we share your email address and a campaign tag with Mailchimp after your story is approved. New subscribers must confirm their signup through a Mailchimp confirmation email. Submitting a story or requesting an approval notification alone does not enroll you in marketing.

You can unsubscribe using the link in our marketing emails. Mailchimp processes information as described in the Intuit Global Privacy Statement.

We may contact you by email for order confirmations, shipping and delivery updates, account notices, customer-service communications, announcements, promotional offers, alerts, surveys, optional product-review invitations, and other communications related to our products and services.

Where permitted and configured, we may receive information indicating whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. We may use this information to evaluate and improve our communications and services.

You may opt out of marketing or promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages. You may separately opt out of product-review invitations using the unsubscribe link in a review-request email.

Opting out will not prevent transactional or service-related communications necessary to process or support your purchases, including order confirmations, shipping notices, account notices, fraud-prevention messages, and customer-service responses.

Storage and security

We may store information on servers provided by third-party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted. We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure, including HTTPS encryption for data transmitted through our website.

No transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Although we work to protect personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children under thirteen

Art Akiane does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under thirteen. If you are under thirteen, ask a parent or guardian for permission to use this website.
